The Power of Hydration
List No. 01
It's no secret that staying hydrated is one of the indisputable corner stones of health. Drinking enough water each day boosts our mood, sleep, energy levels, improves our skin, aids digestion, and can even enhance mental clarity. We all know we need to hydrate. And yet...
…so many of us fall short in this department. Why? Well, for one, water is bland. It's boring. There are about a million other (de-hydrating) beverages vying for our consumption every day. Coffee? Soda? A Spicy Margarita? If my taste buds were driving, I'd opt for all three of those over just plain water any day of the week. With a little intention, though, and the help of these below tricks, I’ve stayed much more consistently hydrated and found water to be more pleasurable to drink. Read on for seven easy tips to unlock the power of hydration for yourself.
1. Say yes to electrolytes
Seven Tips for Better Hydration
It turns out true hydration is not just about drinking water… it’s about replenishing with electrolytes. We need the added sodium, magnesium & potassium to be able to properly replenish our bodies. The good news? There are so many high quality electrolyte powders on the market that actually enhance the taste of water too. Personally, the Lemonade Ultima Replenisher has been a total game changer for me. I’ve also heard great things about this from Artah and this from Kroma. The trick is to find something you actually like with the right ingredients and no added sweetener.
2. Level up with Collagen & Vitamin C
Speaking of things I actually like, these are two magical elixirs I cannot get enough of: Dr. Nigma Talib’s Beauty Collagen and Super Vitamin C Cocktail. I’ve been loyally consuming both religiously since I met Dr. Nigma in 2020. With the Beauty Cocktail Collagen powder, I blend two scoops with 24-32 oz of water, frozen strawberries
and it’s SO frothy and SO delicious. You can make it more of a meal by adding protein powder. I can’t recommend this enough! The Super Vitamin C Cocktail is my defense against any sort of illness, especially in light of cold, flu and covid seasons. I drink 1-2 stick packs a day in 16-24 oz of water. I can’t get enough of the taste, the frothiness and most importantly, the way it makes me feel. Poured over a big ice cube in a crisp, nice glass and you almost forget you’re not having an actual cocktail… 10/10 recommend.
3. Invest in a high quality water filter or filtration system.
We installed a nice one from Beyond H20 in LA but a glass alkaline pitcher like this is also great.
