The Best Non-Toxic Shampoo & Conditioner for Color Treated Hair

When I found out I was pregnant, the very first thing I did was take inventory my personal care products. First up? My shampoo and conditioner. As I’m sure many of you would agree, hair color is not something to mess around with. I spend a decent chunk of dough on highlights and work with a colorist I love (hi Rona!). Since the very nature of coloring your hair is toxic, I had previously figured this is one area where I could bend the rules. I had been using a suite of Goldwell products (shampoo, conditioner, de-tangler) that is very effective at preserving blonde highlights. Not surprisingly, all three products also turned out to be toxic. So, when the pregnancy news hit, I focused on finding an alternative that was both safe for the baby and effective at maintaining my color.

Below are the four shampoos and conditioners I tested, ranked in by preference.

1. Innersense

This has been my daily go to.

2. Rahua Color Ful Shampoo & Conditioner

My first thought was, “Amazon Beauty?” but rest assured, this company is not at all associated with the Amazon we all know all too well. Rahua’s Color Full Shampoo & Conditioner smells wonderful

3. Necessaire

4. Beautycounter

I’ve loved Beautycounter since their very early days and their shampoo & conditioner is no exception.
